Restore your pets' teeth with dental cleanings

Dental problems are some of the most common and significant issues that affect our pets. If allowed to go untreated, dental disease can spread infection to the heart and kidneys.

Proactive treatment is the key in preventing such severe dental-related illnesses, so Fort Hunt Animal Hospital offers several products and services to help keep your pet's teeth healthy, including specially formulated foods and treats, as well as toothpaste and toothbrushes.

Taking care of your pet's teeth at home is the first step to preventing dental disease, but professional dental cleanings are also important.

FHAH offers thorough exams and cleanings which include full mouth radiographs to help the doctor determine the health of the teeth from roots to tips, as well as the health of the surrounding bone.

Dental exams can identify potential problems such as:

• Plaque and tartar build up

• Gingivitis

• Periodontal disease

• Fractured or abscessed teeth

Your pet's teeth are cleaned using an ultrasonic dental scaling, subgingival curettage (scaling teeth under the gum), and finished with polish. Any necessary extractions and other treatments may also be performed during cleaning.

Testimonial

I have been using Ft. Hunt Animal Hospital for about 30 years and have always found the doctors and staff to be very caring. I appreciate the time spent explaining specific findings and answering questions. I never feel rushed.
